Patient Testimonials

At the age of 52, I was given a choice…a choice that would change my life forever…that choice was to lose my right leg above the knee, to…possibly save my life. I chose life!

Amputation quickly threw me into the world of prosthetics. It’s been nearly ten years since my original amputation, followed by numerous setbacks and multiple surgeries, starting over each time, dealing with extreme nerve pain and a shorter limb. I have become a challenging patient to fit with a prosthetic. Because of this, I have had a roller coaster of a journey with several different prosthetic companies and prosthetists.

I live in a small rural community that doesn’t even have a stop light, let alone a prosthetist. So, I have traveled all around the country for the last ten years for all my prosthetic needs. I recently started working with APO about a year ago, after wearing a socket that every single day for the last few years has given me blisters. Why? Because my desire to walk was more important than my comfort level. APO from the very first day of my consultation has taken the time to listen to my needs, they wanted to know what has worked and what hasn’t worked for me. Yes, I am still a challenge to fit. But we have worked as a team and work through issues so I can continue on my journey, one step at a time. I am very appreciative of everything they have done for me.
